The narrator, Lorraine Clayborne, has spent more than a decade trapped in a single year: 2005. Each rotation begins on Christmas Day just before midnight, and every time, she follows the same script. She meets her husband Josh at a coffee shop on December 23rd, where he tells her he wants a divorce. She picks up her children, Tobias and Jennifer, from school. She hosts Christmas dinner. And then, after the guests leave, she poisons her children’s hot cocoa and injects her husband with a syringe of cyanide while he is having sex with her in his study. She has done this over and over, for ten or more rotations, to keep her family together in a perfect, frozen loop.
