Tesla's Cybercab Bet: All or Nothing

Tesla's Cybercab event was supposed to be a fork-in-the-road moment for the company—proof it's more than just an EV maker and justification for a valuation that exceeds the next 59 automakers combined. The Cybercab is a two-seat vehicle with no pedals, no steering wheel, no side mirrors, and no driver. Musk has promised to mass-produce it, putting a fleet in every city and remaking urban transportation. But so far, Tesla's robotaxi service has mainly operated in Austin since June of last year using modified Model Ys, and the number of paid miles being driven is actually declining.
