The SCARIEST Reddit Stories Ever..

In a Reddit story read on a Minecraft channel, a man named Matthias works as a "corpse double" for billionaire families, lying in coffins during public wakes while the real bodies are cremated or frozen. For a job with the Duval family, the rules are extreme: he must undergo an ice bath to lower his skin temperature, receive a neuromuscular blocker to paralyze his facial muscles, breathe only with his diaphragm to avoid chest movement, and endure physical pain without reacting. During the wake, the eldest son squeezes his throat, a granddaughter lays her head on his chest forcing him to hold his breath for three minutes, and the widow, Dona Constancia, places a dissolving paper in his mouth containing a muscle relaxant meant to stop his heart. She whispers that she knows he isn't the real Arthur, who is alive and fled. The agency supervisor, Mr. Reese, gives a sad nod, revealing the agency knew this was a setup. As his heart stops and the coffin lid closes, Matthias realizes the rule book was actually a disposal protocol. The story ends with him feeling the heat of the crematorium oven, his mind still active as his body burns.
