The S&P 500 is heavily weighted toward the "Magnificent Seven" technology stocks—Alphabet, Meta, Nvidia, and the rest of the big artificial intelligence companies. They represent about a third of the total market capitalization of the index. If you are saving for retirement through a 401(k) or similar plan, you are almost certainly invested in AI stocks, whether you know it or not. "People's 401ks are riding on this," says Patricia McCoy, a professor of law at Boston College who studies financial regulation. "People's pensions are riding on this."

Show Notes

Big Tech is kind of carrying the stock market right now, thanks to all that spendy artificial intelligence innovation. That means your retirement account is probably invested in at least some AI stocks. So we asked an expert: If the theoretical AI bubble pops, will those 401(k)s be OK? Also in this episode: New data shows healthy growth in the private sector, Kai goes over the week’s economic headlines ahead of another Fed rate decision, and we visit a cyber-scam compound in Cambodia.
