S03 E52: How to Get More Done Without More Time

August 5, 2026

AI Summary

5 min read

You’ve probably spent the last two months juggling your business, your home, and your kids, and you’re fried. You’re spinning your wheels, getting stuff done, but not making real progress. The hosts of Title Women — Jamie Hass, Kaylee Holbert, and Patricia Lambert — have been there too. In fact, they spent an hour and a half trying to get thirty minutes of work done because of snack needs, barking dogs, and phone calls. Their solution is the “power hour”: a focused block of time that can deliver half a day’s worth of interrupted work in sixty minutes. Here’s how to make it work for you, whether you have a solid hour or just twenty minutes at a time.

Start with a Plan, Not a Blank Slate

The most common mistake is sitting down for a power hour and asking, “What should I do?” That wastes ten minutes of your limited time — and if you do that five days a week, you’ve lost an entire power hour just figuring out what to do. Instead, have a list ready. As tasks come up during your week, write them down immediately. Don’t rely on your mental memory; that creates a distraction in itself.

What you'll learn

  • 1 (01:15) **Why Power Hours Matter** - The hosts introduce the problem: feeling busy but unproductive, especially with family distractions. They frame Power Hours as a solution to get a day's work done in 60 focused minutes.
  • 2 (05:14) **Step 1: Recap of the "Three Habits" System** - A brief recap of last week's episode: pick three low-time, high-impact daily tasks to move the needle forward.
  • 3 (07:07) **Two Approaches: The Full Power Hour vs. Power Bursts** - The hosts outline two main strategies: a concentrated 60-minute block for those who can find it, and 15-20 minute "power bursts" for those who can't.
  • 4 (07:46) **The Power Hour: Start with a Plan** - Jamie explains that a Power Hour must begin with a pre-made task list, not with figuring out what to do.
  • 5 (11:54) **The Power Burst Method for Busy Seasons** - Patricia explains how she uses 15-20 minute increments when full hours aren't possible, especially with very young children.
  • 6 (14:32) **The Hybrid Model: Combining Both Approaches** - The hosts discuss blending Power Bursts with occasional longer CEO blocks (2-3 hours) when childcare or scheduling allows.
  • 7 (15:49) **Why Not to Use AI for Your Plan** - A caution: ChatGPT or generic templates don't know the reality of running a household and business simultaneously.

Show Notes

Welcome back, Wave Makers, let’s get more done today!

In this week’s episode, Patricia and Jamie refer back to last week’s episode on the Real Life Pocket Map and the value of choosing three daily action steps that will continuously move the needle forward toward your goals.

Today, we go deeper, talking about implementation and different time management methods that allow you to get the actions done efficiently. From power hours, set aside to get a solid uninterrupted 60 minutes of focused work accomplished, to power bursts of 10-20 minute windows of time to chip away one task at a time, there is a method that will work for you - it’s just a matter of determining what fits your flow and lifestyle!

Jamie is in a season with teens and speaks to how she implements power hours to get her three daily tasks knocked out in one fell swoop, and then adding additional action steps if time allows. Patricia is in the thick of toddler life and approaching her homeschool mama era, and she has found success in a hybrid combination of power bursts (those 10-20 minute sprints sporadically throughout the day) and CEO dates where she sets a concentrated 2-3 hour block of time aside 2 times a month to really hone in on bigger actions.

And a final power hour option that we would love to support you in, is a coaching session. Whether working with both of us in a Fuel Your Dreams session or working with one of us privately, our individual and collective coaching session are jam-packed with value and you will walk away with action steps in hand and boxes already checked before we close the zoom room door.
