Snap's AR Glasses Gamble

Snapchat has spent $3.5 billion over 12 years developing its AR glasses, with $1.9 billion of that in 2023 alone. The new Snap Specs are a standalone device with two Qualcomm chips, two full-color cameras, two infrared cameras, hand tracking, voice control, and a 51-degree field of view — roughly equivalent to a 24-inch monitor up close or a 115-inch TV from 10 feet away. Battery life reaches four hours of mixed use, with 20 hours via the charging case, a significant improvement over the 45 minutes of previous versions.
