AI Summary
5 min readClaude Fable 5: The Most Impressive AI Model Ever
Four days before releasing it, Anthropic asked the world's leading AI labs to slow down their research out of fear that models were getting good enough to escape human control. Then they released Claude Fable 5 — the most powerful model ever built — but with a twist: there are two versions, and the smarter one is locked away.
The Two-Model Strategy
Claude Fable 5 comes in two forms. The public version sits above Opus in capability and is available to anyone with a subscription, though it comes with heavy safeguards. The second version, Mythos 5, is the unrestricted model that excels at cybersecurity and creating biological compounds — capabilities that could be weaponized. Only vetted partners approved by Anthropic get access to it.
This creates an unprecedented situation in software history. For the first time, the most intelligent AI model isn't accessible to everyone, even if you're willing to pay. The new metric isn't how smart your AI model is — it's the gap between what you get access to and what others get.

What you'll learn
- 1 (00:00) **Episode Introduction: Claude Fable 5 and the Two-Tier Model** - Anthropic releases the most powerful AI model ever, but with a twist: a restricted public version (Fable 5) and an unrestricted version (Mythos 5) for vetted partners only, creating a new fork in the road for AI access.
- 2 (01:11) **Demo 1: Recreating the Library of Babel** - Dan Shipper uses a single prompt to have Fable 5 read a book and recreate an infinite, high-fidelity 3D library containing all text, including his own essays.
- 3 (03:20) **Demo 2: 3D World Building and Spatial Reasoning** - Fable 5 creates a one-to-one recreation of Yosemite National Park from a single prompt, using satellite imagery and topographic maps to build an accurate 3D environment.
- 4 (06:12) **Demo 3: Game Creation and Autonomous Gameplay** - Ethan Mollick rebuilds a high-fidelity version of Snake with power-ups, and Fable 5 autonomously plays through Pokemon Fire Red in 50 minutes by analyzing screenshots and making decisions.
- 5 (08:05) **Demo 4: Real-Time Product Building on a Customer Call** - Todd Saunders uses Fable 5 to transcribe a customer call and build the features they requested in real-time, presenting a fully working product by the end of the 15-minute call.
- 6 (09:09) **Demo 5: Visualizing Network Traffic** - A fun, interactive visualization of network packets as cars on a highway, created by Fable 5 for educational purposes.
- 7 (10:24) **Enterprise Use Case: Code Migration at Scale** - Stripe uses Fable 5 to migrate 50 million lines of Ruby code in less than a day, a task that would typically take two months and multiple engineering teams.
