On the API, it starts at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens during a promotional period, then goes to $3 and $15. That is Opus-level agentic performance at Sonnet pricing.
The model has a 1 million token context window, 128,000 output tokens, adaptive thinking on by default, and a new tokenizer. Crucially, it is available even on Anthropic's free plan, which matters because many people — including Fortune 500 executives, according to host Jordan Wilson — test AI on free accounts and get misleading results. Sonnet 5 is now the default free model, and it is genuinely good.
