Extraordinary vs. Extra Ordinary

One listener, Jordan Sewell, kept noticing the same name popping up in Google Maps reviews for hikes he and his wife were planning—first in Iceland, then in the Dolomites in Italy. The reviewer, going by "Ridiculubes," posted photos of themselves in precarious mountain terrain wearing Christian Louboutin stilettos. The shoes, with their signature red soles, looked like weapons. The reviewer appeared pristine, not dusty or winded. Jordan wanted to know: why?

The Man Behind the Heels

Ridiculubes—who signs his emails as "Riddy"—is a man who first discovered women's fashion as a child. About twenty years ago, he started dressing up outside the house, taking photos as "photographic evidence." The social climate was different then, and he had to get used to uncharitable looks. Over time, he built confidence, started going out during daytime, and collected about twenty pairs of Louboutins.

At the same time, Riddy developed a passion for nature and the outdoors. Driving through Austria around Easter, with snow still on the ground, he decided to dress up on a snowy path. "It kind of became a thing," he told producer Grace Tatter. "These are things that I love and I can do both at the same time." He does not wear the stilettos for entire hikes—there are moments he takes them off—but the photos capture the juxtaposition he enjoys.
