The Price of the Decision

In his closing remarks on the August 6, 2026 episode of The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Steve Harvey answered a question from co-host Junior about the sacrifices required to pursue greatness. The Repercussions of a Good Decision

Harvey anchored his argument in his own biography. On October 9th of some unspecified year, he quit his job to pursue stand-up comedy. That was, he said, a great decision. But it came with immediate repercussions: the paycheck that arrived every other Friday stopped coming. People who depended on that paycheck suffered. Harvey described the early days of that decision—making $25 a night telling jokes, $50 on good nights, performing in a Sandusky, Ohio restaurant where the stage was literally on top of the cash register, no bigger than a card table. He stood behind the bar, above the register, and told jokes to whoever was drinking.
