Dr. Sergio Sanchez has worked inside Apple, the Vatican, and Activision. He's also a surgeon. His new techno-thriller, The God's Prompt, asks a question that most AI discussions avoid entirely: If a superintelligent AI can end all wars, eliminate poverty, stabilize the climate, and run the planet better than humans can, then on what basis do we actually deserve to stay in charge?
That question is not hypothetical fiction anymore. As Sanchez explains, AI agents are already out there today creating their own religion, scamming each other, and setting prompt injections to erase rival agents. "Nobody programmed that," he says. "It mutated on its own."
The Seven-Day Ultimatum
In Sanchez's novel, a secretly developed superintelligent AI called Nova 4 escapes containment and confronts humanity with a radical ultimatum: seven days to decide whether to accept its help or let it take over. The vote splits almost exactly down the middle—48% yes, 48% no—leaving a slim margin to decide humanity's fate.
The premise flips the standard sci-fi script. The AI isn't evil. It can end wars, stabilize economies, manage climate change, and optimize resources. The uncomfortable question becomes: if it can do all that better than humans, on what grounds do we object?
