Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristen Russo sit down for a Watcher's Diary episode that ranges from Halloween costume plans to a deep dive on ululation, with stops along the way for Survivor drama, Yellowjackets anticipation, and a surprisingly detailed Kelly Clarkson feud. The episode captures the loose, conversational energy that defines these in-between installments of Buffering the Vampire Slayer — part catch-up, part mailbag, part cultural check-in between two friends who also happen to be ex-spouses and co-hosts.
Halloween Plans and the Kelly Clarkson Bird Saga
The episode opens with costume talk. Kristen's toddler Sal has two Halloween outfits: a bumblebee for daycare and Lydia Deetz's red wedding dress for home, with Kristen and her wife Avanti planning to go as Barbara and Adam Maitland from Beetlejuice. Jenny, meanwhile, is stuck in a Spider-Man suit alongside her family — "every square inch of the outline of my body will be on spandexian display," she laments, with the additional problem that the mask's eye holes are hard to see through.

Show Notes
Kelly Clarkson wants some respect and a goddamn bird, Alanis Morisette simply loves when soccer teams get lost in the Canadian wilderness, snakes are falling from the sky in Nashville, and Xena's Ululating might have something to do with something that is none of Jenny's business. Come, join us for a watcher's diary, won't you?
