Cliff opens with a report from Tyler Bounds about a horseback rider in Ridgefield, Washington, just north of Vancouver. The location is Whipple Creek Regional Park—not deep wilderness, but a heavily wooded park with a tributary to the Columbia River running through it. Two people on horseback looked down into a fifty-foot canyon and saw what they first took for a bear standing waist-deep in the creek. It was a hairy human-shaped figure doing something in the water. It eventually noticed the riders, looked at them, then walked out of the creek and into the woods.
