"You Build Cloud Software"

The first sentence of this monologue sets a tone that never lets up: "You have spent years threatening people's livelihoods, suggesting that AI would wipe out 50% of white collar jobs. And when one of your nasty little racialist goblins quits your company and scares everybody, you've doubled down." Host Ed Zitron is addressing Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei directly, and he is not interested in a careful, balanced critique. He is interested in saying what he believes the tech and business media will not say: that Amodei and his peers at OpenAI's Sam Altman are running companies built on contradictory claims, deceptive financial reporting, and a manufactured mythology of existential danger that conveniently serves their business interests.

The central thesis is simple and relentless. Amodei and Altman present themselves as stewards of a potentially world-ending technology while simultaneously rushing to commercialize it, take it public, and extract maximum value. Zitron argues that if these executives genuinely believed their own warnings about AI safety, they would act differently—they would restrict their models, halt dangerous experiments, and call for industry-wide moratoriums. Instead, they deploy safety rhetoric as a branding exercise while their actual behavior tracks standard Silicon Valley growth-at-all-costs playbooks.
