In 2011, a French man named Michel Silosi, 55, agreed to meet a 22-year-old man he'd connected with on a website called Coco. He was beaten to death in what a court later ruled a homophobic attack. Gay rights organizations in France had been warning about Coco for years—they were not listened to. Nearly a decade later, that same website would become globally infamous as the place where Dominique Pelico recruited dozens of men to rape his drugged, unconscious wife, Giselle, over the course of a decade.

The Ecosystem, Not the Hub

The story of Dominique Pelico is inseparable from the websites that enabled him, but the hosts are careful to distinguish between the man and the infrastructure. Pelico was an outlier within the community of men obsessed with "sleep content"—non-consensual pornography of unconscious women. Most men drawn to this material start at zero, lacking the experience to drug and assault women themselves. Instead, they participate by purchasing content, sharing it, and supporting more prolific abusers. "They're still abusing," the host notes. "They're participating, just as someone who shares CSAM is participating in the abuse of children, even if they're not making it."
