"This is animal behavior" — What's actually happening in Paris

More than 400 cars were burned. Two people killed. 192 injured, including 22 police officers. 559 people arrested in Paris alone. The footage shows crowds tipping over large glass collection bins to use as ammunition, a police officer on fire, someone trying to choke a firefighter, and vehicles being systematically destroyed. As the host puts it while watching the clips: "The Nevrons in Expedition 33 didn't fuck up Paris this bad."

The reaction is a mix of shock, dark humor, and a broader argument about what this means for Europe's future.

What the footage actually shows

The host is reacting to multiple videos and images circulating online, some from recent days and some from earlier in 2024. The scenes are not a single event but a pattern of unrest that has been building. One clip shows a man staying behind to light something on fire while others flee — "wait a minute, guys, I gotta get my stuff before I — okay, yeah, I'm good." Another shows rioters tipping over large containers filled with glass, which the host identifies as "effectively ammo boxes." A firefighter is attacked. A Palestinian flag is waved by someone who then tries to choke a first responder.
