Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt — The First Major Content Update

Grinding Gear Games revealed the first major content update for Path of Exile 2's early access, and it is far larger than most players expected. Game director Jonathan Rogers and Mark Roberts walked through a two-hour presentation covering a new class, five new ascendancies, over 100 new support gems, a reworked endgame progression system, and a host of crafting additions. The update, titled Dawn of the Hunt, launches April 4th.

The Huntress and Her Spears

The centerpiece is the Huntress, a dexterity-based class that uses spears as both melee and ranged weapons. Her kit revolves around a hybrid playstyle: she dashes into melee range with skills like Whirling Slash (which creates a growing whirlwind that explodes when she leaves it), then follows up with thrown spear attacks like Twisters, which bounce off walls and can be fired into the whirlwind to create fire tornadoes. She also carries a buckler for a new Parry mechanic — holding the parry button causes her to counter-attack incoming strikes, stunning enemies and opening them to bonus damage from follow-up skills like Disengage, which becomes an explosion against parried foes.
