"I have no problem with the Houthis"

The moment landed flat because it was so direct. During a livestream, the streamer Hassan—known online as HasanAbi—was asked whether his language about the Houthis could be read as supportive of terrorism. His answer: "I have no problem with the Houthis." Pressed further, he said, "If you think I'm a terrorism supporter for that reason, then yeah, I'm a fucking terrorism supporter." Asmongold, reacting to the clip on his own stream, called it over in seconds: "That was fucking easy. I was expecting this to be complicated."

What Hassan said, and why it matters

The controversy centers on Hassan's repeated public statements about the Houthis, the Yemen-based group that has attacked civilian shipping in the Red Sea and, on the same day as the clip Asmongold played, launched a ballistic missile that struck near Ben Gurion Airport—Israel's main international civilian airport. Hassan had previously suggested the Houthis should receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He has also described their military actions in the Red Sea as "a perfectly moral action" in the context of opposing Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
