Capcom's First Big Update for Monster Hunter Wilds Is Massive

"Man, we eating good," Asmongold said, watching the trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds' first free title update. The reaction was genuine surprise—this was far more content than he expected for a free patch.

Monster Hunter Wilds has been a staggering success for Capcom. Asmongold noted that Dragon's Dogma 2 peaked at around 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, while Wilds hit 1.3 million. "It is actually such an incredible, massive, fucking monumental success," he said. The first free title update, arriving April 4th, is Capcom's way of thanking players and keeping momentum going.

New Monsters and a Harder Mode

The update brings three new monsters. Mizutsune, a fan-favorite from earlier Monster Hunter games, is making its Wilds debut as a brand new boss encounter. Hunters at rank 21 or above can unlock the mission by talking to Kanya in the Scarlet Forest.

Zoh Shia, the final boss from the story campaign, is getting a repeatable fight. Players who only faced it once during the narrative can now hunt it again, with materials used to forge new gear. The quest unlocks at hunter rank 50.
