"Something is seriously wrong with Twitch" — Asmongold TV

Asmongold opens Twitch and scrolls to the front page. He stops on a streamer whose content, he argues, is furry fetish hentai — a cartoon animal with exaggerated anatomy, a timer that never counts down, and five hours of nothing happening. "No reasonable person would look at somebody who's basically drawing furry hentai and say this person should be on the front page of the website," he says. He is not arguing for banning these streamers. He is arguing that Twitch is selectively promoting one kind of sexualized content while suppressing another, and he believes the pattern is deliberate.

The double standard

The core of Asmongold's complaint is not that sexual content exists on Twitch. It is that Twitch applies a double standard. He contrasts the furry fetish streamer with what he calls "conventionally attractive" women streaming on the platform — women whose streams are also about their bodies, he says, but who do not get front-page placement. "Why is it that the only sexualized stream that you're able to have on the front page is whenever it's animals with huge tits," he asks. He argues that Twitch is actively suppressing "normal natural sexualities and just a normal relationship" while promoting "weird fetishes and perversions" that are non-heteronormative.
