A Stunning Split Verdict: Diddy Acquitted on Most Serious Charges

The jury had been deadlocked just a day earlier. Then, after roughly 15 hours of deliberation following two months of testimony, the verdict came back: Sean "Diddy" Combs was found not guilty on three of five federal counts, including the two most serious charges — racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking of his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura. He was convicted only on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, each carrying up to 10 years in prison. "Whoever his lawyer is," one commentator remarked, "I feel like that guy can quadruple his rate." The outcome was widely described as stunning, particularly given that the Southern District of New York, which prosecuted the case, typically secures convictions in over 95% of its cases.
