Rowling, who has been at the center of this debate for years, responded simply: "Everyone who said this for years has won." The irrelevance of the "born this way" argument

The conversation quickly moved past the ruling itself into a deeper disagreement about how to frame the debate around transgender identity. One host argued that the entire premise of whether someone is "born in the wrong body" is a distraction. "I don't care whether being gay is a choice or not," he said. "If you want to suck another dude's dick, that's your right to do it. It's a free country. If you want to wear makeup and wear a dress and dress up like a girl and say you're a girl, it's a free country. You should be able to do that."
