I watched 2025 Summer Game Fest.. (it's CINEMA) | Asmongold TV

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase delivered one of the strongest lineups in the event’s history, with major sequels, surprise shadow drops, and a closing reveal that finally confirmed the next mainline Resident Evil. Asmongold, watching live, called it Keighley’s best show yet — and the breadth of announcements backed up the claim.

The big reveals: Resident Evil Requiem and Death Stranding 2

The show closed with the world premiere of Resident Evil Requiem, a bold tonal shift for the franchise that blends survival horror with high-stakes cinematic action. The trailer featured a protagonist investigating a murder connected to his mother’s death eight years prior, with a release date of February 27, 2026. Keighley teased the announcement by having a Capcom representative say the time wasn’t right to share more — only to cut to the trailer immediately after. Asmongold called the bait-and-switch effective, noting the reveal “could have been cringe in 99 ways” but landed well.

Earlier, Hideo Kojima appeared in person to show a new Death Stranding 2 clip, featuring Luca Marinelli taking over the role Matt previously played. Kojima said the pandemic reshaped what he wanted to say with the sequel: “I wanted to show something new about connection after we faced the pandemic.” A deeper gameplay demo was promised for a Sunday event.
