The Original Problem: Floaty Movement and Punishing Design

Asmongold hadn't touched the game since its October 2023 release, and he remembered exactly why he stopped. The biggest pain point was the movement system. The first major area of the game was essentially a "jumping puzzle area," but the character controls were too floaty and imprecise for platforming. Attacks would "throw you off the edge," and the jump was tied to the sprint button—the same awkward system from Dark Souls 1. He compared the experience to reaching Blighttown in Dark Souls, except players were still learning the basics when they hit this gauntlet, making it feel less like a challenge and more like a design flaw.
