Asmongold jumps into Marvel Rivals after a long break, and the first thing he discovers is that the game added Daredevil—a blind character, which he jokes is perfect for him. He also tries out a new tank hero, a diamond-form brawler he has never played before, and the session quickly turns into a live, unvarnished tutorial in how to get good at a fast competitive shooter when you are rusty, distracted, and playing characters you do not understand.

The mechanics of learning on the fly

Asmongold does not watch guides or practice in the training range. He learns by trial and error in ranked matches, starting in Bronze—which he calls "the worst rank" and chat calls "bitch rank." His approach is raw: he reads ability descriptions aloud as he loads in ("Okay, so she has a beam? This is a shield? A team up?"), then immediately tries to use them in combat. When he fails, he reads chat tips and adjusts. For the diamond tank, he learns that pressing E in diamond form does a choke slam, and shift kicks enemies into his team. He discovers that her left click builds damage as he uses it but fades fast. The key insight emerges mid-match: "Her left click builds damage as you use it, but fades fast." He learns to combo abilities not from a guide but from dying repeatedly and reading the kill feed.
