His face says it all.. | Asmongold TV

In a clip from a larger interview, Bernie Sanders tells a questioner that the Democratic Party's primary process has been undemocratic since 2008, and when asked directly whether that makes the party "also a threat to democracy," he answers, "Fair enough. I'm not gonna argue with that point." The moment is electric. The streamer watching the clip—Asmongold—reacts with barely contained glee. "Who else felt the exact same way because I sure fucking did," he says. The episode is not really about Bernie Sanders. It is about what Asmongold sees as a broken political system, the alienation of normal voters, and why the internet has become the only place where honest political conversation happens.

The Sanders clip and the strategy of delegitimization

The conversation begins when Asmongold and his co-host discuss the 2016 "Bernie Bros" narrative—the idea that Sanders's supporters were sexist and racist. Asmongold plays a clip of Sanders himself addressing the accusation. Sanders says the "Bernie Bros" myth was created by "the corporate media" to discredit a movement that included young people and people of color. "It's almost like it's the exact same strategy to get you out of there," Asmongold comments as the clip plays. "He's actually just saying it. Oh my God. He just fucking says it."
