OpenAI just released the Sora app—a social media platform for generating purely AI-made video content—and the implications are arriving faster than most people realize. The new Sora 2 model produces footage so realistic that viewers can no longer reliably distinguish what is real from what is generated. People are already using it to create fake CCTV footage of others committing crimes. As Asmongold puts it, "This is the worst that it's ever going to be. It will never be worse than this."

What Sora 2 Actually Does

Sora 2 is not just an incremental improvement. The model demonstrates state-of-the-art performance in motion, physics IQ, and body mechanics—the three areas where earlier AI video generators visibly failed. Previous models struggled with continuity: fingers would duplicate mid-scene, objects would flicker, and physics would break. Sora 2 largely eliminates those tells. As Asmongold observes while watching sample footage, "The fidelity and the lack of inconsistencies... fingers aren't duplicating halfway through. The continuity of this is what really impresses me more than anything else."
