A liberal American woman is going viral on TikTok for announcing she plans to move to Afghanistan to be with her husband, whom she met on Snapchat in July 2024. She met him in person for the first time in December 2024, after five to six months of talking 12 to 15 hours a day. Now she is scheduled to fly into Kabul on August 3rd. The internet is telling her not to go. She is moving her trip up instead.

The woman’s own reasoning

In her own TikTok videos, the woman explains her decision. She is a truck driver in the U.S. She says she met her husband on Snapchat in July 2024, exchanged WhatsApp numbers, and talked constantly until they met in person in December. She says it felt like she already knew him. She describes herself as someone who does not want a man from the U.S. because of what she calls "red pill content" and the "50-50 mindset" she sees in American dating culture. She says men from other countries are "raised with different values around family and partnership." She explicitly advises other American women to "get out of the box and date more men outside of the US."

Her husband cannot enter the United States because of the U.S. ban on Afghan entry. So she is going to him instead.
