In the summer of 1990, a 22-year-old woman named Pamela Smart arrived home to find her husband Greg dead in the entryway of their New Hampshire condominium, a bullet wound in the back of his head, a blue towel wrapped around his skull. She was hysterical, soaking wet from sobbing, inconsolable. But within hours, police noticed something that would follow her for decades: she didn't seem emotional enough. She focused on missing speakers from a stereo stand. She said things that suggested she knew details about the crime scene she shouldn't have known. The marriage and the affair

Pamela Smart grew up in Miami, the daughter of a homemaker and a pilot. She was described as a sweet, happy-go-lucky child who became an overachiever in college, working three jobs while earning a degree in communication arts. Her goal was to be a television news reporter. She hosted two radio shows at FSU under the moniker "the maiden of metal," playing Van Halen and Motley Crue.
