An editor who writes occasional essays for The New York Times and elsewhere, she is known for “Everything Is Broken” and “Brokenism.” Raised between the Five Towns and Sheepshead Bay, she is married to journalist David Samuels and serves as president of the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics, whose work has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal.
