Huxe Shut Down. Here's Where Your Morning Briefing Can Live Now.
If you opened Huxe every morning and now you can't, this page is for you. No spin: we'll cover what happened, what Huxe did well, where PodSized genuinely covers the same job — and where it doesn't.
What happened
Huxe — the AI audio app from former NotebookLM developers Raiza Martin, Jason Spielman, and Stephen Hughes — was pulled from the App Store and Play Store on May 21, 2026. The app stopped working on May 28, and the team deleted all user data on May 29. The shutdown came a day after Spotify launched a similar personalized-audio feature; the founders said the team is moving on to new things.
That's a hard way to lose an app you used daily. XDA's writeup captured what a lot of users felt: it was the rare AI product that had become a genuine habit. If that was you, you're not looking for a victory lap from a competitor — you're looking for somewhere to put the habit.
What Huxe got right
Huxe's core insight was that mornings have a listening-shaped hole in them. You're making coffee, walking the dog, commuting — your ears are free, your hands aren't. Huxe filled that hole with a personalized audio briefing generated from your interests: a few minutes of audio that caught you up without asking you to read anything.
- Audio-first. You listened; you didn't scroll.
- Short. Minutes, not hours. It respected your morning.
- Yours. It covered the topics you actually cared about, not a generic news rundown.
Any honest replacement needs to score on those three things.
How PodSized covers the same job
PodSized starts from a different place — real podcasts instead of generated shows — but lands on the same morning routine:
- ~5-minute digests of real episodes. Follow the shows that cover your interests — AI, business, news, science, whatever — and every new episode gets an AI summary you can read in about five minutes.
- Audio versions (Premium). Every summary gets an audio version, so your morning catch-up stays hands-free. Queue up three summaries and you've covered three hours of podcasts in fifteen minutes of listening.
- Outlines and full transcripts. When a summary hooks you, the chapter outline tells you exactly where to jump in the full episode, and the transcript lets you search what was actually said.
- It's grounded in real shows. Every digest traces back to a real episode by real people. If something's interesting, the full conversation is one tap away — and your "library" is a set of podcasts that exist independently of us.
Honest differences
We'd rather you pick the right tool than download ours and be disappointed:
- We don't generate synthetic shows. Huxe created original audio about your topics. PodSized summarizes real podcasts. If no podcast covers your niche, we have nothing to summarize.
- It's episode-by-episode, not one stitched briefing. Your morning is a queue of short summaries rather than a single seamless show.
- Personalization comes from what you follow, not from an AI inferring your interests. You curate the shows; we condense them.
If what you loved about Huxe was specifically the generated-show format, tools like NotebookLM's Audio Overviews are closer to that experience. If what you loved was "catch me up on my world, in audio, in a few minutes" — that's the job PodSized was built for.
